Barceloneta is home to Barcelona’s main city beach. Barceloneta is a neighborhood in the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona; and it’s the area of beaches closest to Port Vell. The neighborhood was constructed during the 18th century, roughly triangular, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea.
Barceloneta is known for its sandy beach and its many great sea food restaurants, the beachside “chiringuitos”, and the nightclubs along the boardwalk. The Barceloneta beach is the closest beach to the city center. The beach is rather busy during the summer season and commonly used by the younger crowd and for school activities. Barceloneta beach is the oldest and most traditional beach in the city, approximately 1,100 m long.
Barceloneta has plenty of leisure equipments: volleyball courts, a table soccer area, a children’s play area, a ping-pong table and a gym area.
Barceloneta beach is also equipped with a skating area.
